A neutral colour scheme is the way to go for selling.
I remember when we were planning to sell our house. We had decluttered, cleaned and spruced up areas that needed repair.
But paint...really? In one word- YES. The sweat equity that you put in will pay off with TOP dollar for your home.
Buyers want to see themselves effortlessly moving into their new home. And unless they are buying a "fixer upper" at a lower then market price, buyers want to see freshly painted NEUTRAL walls.
The colour doesnt have to be white. Go talk with a paint specialist and find out what CURRENT NEUTRAL colours are being picked OR go to some show homes in your area. REMEMBER though -dont pick a flashy colour for you, pick a easy neutral colour that all buyers will like. And paint most rooms in that colour.
The accents are going to be the accessories that "POP" colour into the room. (throw pillows, blankets, vases)
The experts say...Choose only 3 colours or less to paint your house for selling. If you have an open floor plan then paint the main floor all the same colour. Bedrooms look good in light sage greens or warm blues like the new aqua....again ASK the paint specialists at your favourite store as trends do change as seasons come and go.
